In 1996 Congress passed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, also known as HIPAA. This act addressed many health insurance issues, including a requirement to provide more safeguards on protecting patients' privacy concerning their health information. PHI is any health information that can be linked to an individual that is covered by an entity, such as a health insurance plan. Examples of PHI are medical claim forms, enrollment forms or medical bills.
Since Gunn Mowery offers health benefits to employers through a number of companies, we need to inform you of how we use and share the information we obtain from your employees in order for you to offer a competitive health benefit package.
